Tao Sun is a manager in the Litigation Support practice at Applied Marketing Science (AMS). He is involved in all aspects of litigation research projects, including survey design, data analysis, and report development.
Tao joined AMS with 20 years of college teaching and research experience. Tao has designed and conducted surveys or experiments on topics related to consumer behavior, advertising effectiveness and mass media effects. He has published his empirical findings in such outlets as Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Psychology & Marketing, Young Consumers, and American Behavioral Scientist.
Tao started his academic career at Emerson College (Boston) teaching courses like Advertising Media Planning, Understanding Consumer Behavior, Research Methods for Global Marketing Communication & Advertising, and Introduction to Integrated Marketing Communication. Prior to his position at AMS, he taught Applied Research Methods, Communication Law, Strategic Communication, and Consumer, Markets & Public Policy at the University of Vermont, where he was an associate professor of public communication.
In his spare time, Tao enjoys skiing with his kids at various resorts in New England. He lives right next to the Appalachian Trail in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Tao holds a B.A. in English from Dalian University of Foreign Languages (China), a B.A. in journalism from China School of Journalism, an M.A. in media studies from Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Tao worked on the international news desk with China’s Xinhua News Agency before he came to the US for his graduate studies.
